Last month, David Eton - who is a disabled pensioner and registered blue badge owner - was given a parking ticket outside the Whittington Hospital after a traffic warden found his car parked in a marked disabled bay. Islington Council gave him the ticket even though his car was parked in a spot for disabled drivers, displaying his valid blue badge. But it turns out the spot was actually only for disabled drivers who live on that road.  David was visiting the hospital for an important blood test. He cannot walk far as he has recently had both a stroke and heart attack, and gets just £140 a week to live on. The ticket cost £130 or £65 if he can find the money to pay it early. I'm his neighbour and I tried to appeal his ticket for him, but Islington Council has refused to cancel it. According to the Islington Gazette, they are making up to £50,000 a year from that particular parking spot and, as it's right opposite a hospital, other disabled blue badge owners have been caught out in the past. Last week, a few days after finding out the decision by Islington Council to turn down his parking appeal, David was taken by ambulance to hospital suffering from chest pains. After spending several nights in hospital, he is now home but is still very unwell. I am setting up this fundraising page with the permission of his wife to try to help him out and to show him that not eveyone believes people should be treated in this way and because I think he has been treated cruelly by Islington Council. Please show your support with a donation, however small.

  • God bless, keep, and heal you, sir, and shame on Islington council. They should make more spaces available and stop STEALING from people! I wish I could give more but I hope this helps a little!
