Surgery for Gus

Purpose & Goal:

These funds are specifically to cover the cost of surgery for Gus, a true companion & a faithful friend in need.  Gus has bladder stones that must be removed.  There is one particularly large stone lurking perilously close to his urethra.  If a stone becomes lodged in the urethra, the condition becomes a life threatening emergency.  It is an urgent imperative that we have the stones removed before that happens, as the risk looms greater with delay.  The vet estimates the cost of the surgery at about $800.00, plus meds & follow-up care.  The goal for this fundraiser, therefore, is set at $1000.00, and the need is immediate.

Gus Who?

Gus is a terrier- (Jack Russell, we believe) -Chiuahua mix; a small dog with a big personality.  Though you might expect him to be hyper, yappy & unruly, exactly the opposite is true.  He is a mellow & lovng boy, and only barks when he has something important to say.  He is friendly, playful & sociable, as his many admiriers will attest.  Eight years ago, Gus & I rescued each other.  Each of us had been left behind, when people we loved moved on.  In a very real & true sense, we saved each others' lives.  We have been side by side, constant companions ever since.

Why Crowd Funding?

Gus depends on me for his very survivial, and he deserves the best I can give him.  My financial resources are stretched tight & very limited right now.  I live frugally, manage the day-to-day expenses and pay the bills on time, but there is no cushion and nothing left over.  None of my friends/family are well-to-do.  They are hard-working people and have their own expenses to manage.  There is no one with deep pockets who can simply pull out $800-$1000 and hand it over with a smile.  Because it is for Gus, and because the need is urgent, I have stepped far out of my comfort zone, overcome my resistance and made the leap of faith to a fundraising site.  Hard as this is for me, I can't bear even the thought of letting Gus die simply because I was too embarrassed to ask for help in getting him the care he needs. I am glad and grateful for the prayers, the shares and the donations of each & all who contibute.  Thank you!
