Campaign Story
On Tuesday 17th February activists from Brighton, London, Swansea and East Kent shut down Instro Precision, an arms company near Broadstairs (Kent). Instro is owned by Israeli arms company Elbit Systems, who make drones that are used to kill Palestinian civilians in Gaza. Optical and camera systems like those made at the Instro factory are also supplied by Elbit for use in drones flown over Afghanistan, as well as in Israel’s apartheid wall.
The action was massively successful. We occupied the factory for 13 hours. They told the workers not to come in and several deliveries were turned away. We got loads of media coverage, including in national papers. Lots of local people heard about the occupation and came down to support us with food and blankets and there are no arrests!
Elbit seemed so desperate not to attract attention they told the police not to arrest us, so we would like to do it all again soon. However, actions like this cost money.
- £156 on a ladder to get on the roof.
- £75 on clean phones
- £10 on smoke pellets
- £25 on banner material
- £50 on train tickets
- £105 on petrol
- £100 on car hire
- £70 on food (cos we had to buy more as the cops stole our prepared food!)
If you can give us a few quid it would really help.
If you can't afford to donate you could share it by e-mail, Facebook, and Twitter to spread the word instead.
There is a great account of the action on the Faversham and Whitstable Palestine Solidarity Campaign here.

Heard about the food. Shame on the police. They'll be confiscating donations to food banks next. Keep the ladder. A good investment. We'll be needing it.
