About This Campaign

GO SOBER IN OCTOBER

Save the money (and calories!) you would have spent on alcohol, and donate it. 100% of proceeds will go to a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness around recovery.

HOW IT WORKS:

1. Choose one of the following options:

A. Proceed as usual.

OR

B. Challenge yourself. Go sober through October.

2. Tally the amount you spent on alcohol or saved from not drinking, and DONATE. 100% of proceeds will go to Faces & Voices of Recovery, a a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit corporation that joins together individuals and organizatoins with a united voice to advocate for public action to deliver the power, possibility and proof of recovery.

3. Check yourself (before you wreck yo-self!). Do you drink to party, or party to drink?

KNOW YOUR RISK LEVEL.

Alcoholism is a disease and it's often progressive.  It causes a ripple effect in its surrounding community. The Mayo Clinic and the NIAAA suggest several guidelines for evaluating your level of risk. Here's an easy code to remember them:

4-14-T-I-P-P-S-Y

  • 4 or more drinks in one night (3 for women!)
  • 14 or more drinks in one week (7 for women!)
  • Trauma or abuse during childood
  • Increased or steady drinking over time
  • Parent(s) or other close relatives who have problems with alcohol
  • Psychological disorder, such as anxiety, depression or PTSD
  • Social or cultural factors (i.e. friends who love to party)
  • Youth drinking; the earlier you start, the higher your risk
