Shaolin Martial Arts Journey/Documentary 2014/2015

On September 12th 2014, I will be heading to China for a year to learn Shaolin Kung Fu. I will also be filming a documentary as well as creating a sequence of short films.

I will be based on the outskirts of a small town called Siping in the northern Chinese province of Jilin.  During this year I will undergo rigorous training physically and mentally as well as learning to speak mandarin.

I have always wanted to do this and now that I have left school it is the perfect time to do it. I believe this experience will give me a unique set of skills and an incredible discipline, mentally and physically which I will retain for the rest of my life.

During my stay in China I am also planning to film a documentary about the Shaolin lifestyle and a couple of short films which will of course include some Kung Fu action!   

As part of my Shaolin experience I am raising all the money needed for this project myself. I will need to pay for my flights, tuition as well as buy new camera equipment before going. Once I arrive, there will be very little contact with the outside world.  

To raise money for my trip I will be working throughout the whole summer doing any work I can get my hands on.
