Hello All. As some of you may be aware, I have a very dear friend in the refereeing of rugby who goes by the name of Steve Williamson (Or Big Willie as he is more commonly known). Despite him being an Australian, this man is one of the most inspirational characters you will ever meet and has had an impact on more people that he will ever know.Over the last year Big Willy has been battling against a very rare form of cancer known as Lymphoma. During this time a family of referees from across the world, ranging from Dubai to Australia to the UK and all across Europe have supported him in the form of a campaign going by the name of RED CARD CANCER FOR BIG WILLIE. This campaign has been supported by in excess of 1000 referees and many more teams, coaches, players and supporters, including Nigel Owen, Austin Healy and the Bristol Rugby Team who sent a signed shirt out to his hospital room.Big Willy is finally coming to the end of his treatment and beginning to get back into the 'normal' way of life. A little under 10,000 miles away, I am based at Loughborough Uni and undertaking the Movember Campaign along with 2 other guys from the David Collett Committee (Nick Andrews, Joe Lindsay and Thomas Stovel). However whilst we are fully supporting the Movember Campaign we have decided to take it one stage further and on the final day of November, instead of shaving the beards we have grown over the course of the month to raise awareness, we will be completely shaving our heads. This page has been set up to raise awareness for cancer and all money raised from the sponsorship myself, Nick, Joe and Tom will hopefully raise will go directly to Steve and his loving wife Anita to do as they see fit. This may be to help to cover some of the bills incurred over the course of Steve's treatment, it may be to fund some much needed relaxation for the family after a very stressful year or they may choose to donate it to a charity to continue the good work against cancer. All donations will be greatfully accepted and video's of the head shaving will be posted on Youtube and Facebook at the end of November.
