PS20 to Farms for City Kids

PS20 has been serving the Lower East Side community throughout the years.  As fourth and fifth grade teachers at PS20 for over 10 years, we recognize the importance of the learning both inside and outside of the classroom.  Farms for City Kids is an organization that allows New York City students to live and work on a farm for a week, getting to know a rural community and each other in a hands-on, agricultural classroom.  Their mission:

Farms For City Kids Foundation provides a stimulating outdoor classroom where urban youth explore new dimensions of learning as academics are integrated into everyday farm activities that practice and teach sustainability.

This Farm experience encourages teamwork and respect, rewarding children with values such as responsibility, self confidence and the satisfaction of facing and overcoming chanllenges.

So different from their everyday lives, this innovative agricultural classroom makes an impression that will last a lifetime.

This May, we will be bringing out students to Farm For City Kids.  We are raising money for transportation to and from Vermont, coming in at $4,000.  We appreciate any donation, big or small.  Your donation will be going to support the learning of a lifetime for 26 children of the Lower East Side.
