Hi, my name is Rosie Dodd and I am an ex-world challenger of Africa 2014 travelling in the summer of 2015 out to Faridabad, New Delhi, India, to apply myself as best I can to a new project in an effort to aid the local communities. I will be involving myself in volunteer aid work performing orphanage care, medical electives and teaching english. This includes running a Health Camp to teach the children about basic hygiene and dental care, which we're hoping will help reduce certain disease prevalencies amongst the adolescent and child populations. I will then be travelling south with the team to Kochi, where we begin a volunteering phase in Kerula. Here we will also be teaching English and working at the local orphanage, supporting the staff as much as we possibly can. I'm doing this to try and give something back to the locals who are so willing to embrace and support us in our travels, and because I am very aware of how lucky I am living in my ivory castle of urban prosperity, removed from the difficult challenges faced by thousands of children and adults alike in their efforts to support each other whilst facing many potentially debilitating health issues that in western countries we can so easily avoid. I will be earning my own funds alongside my university MESci Marine Geography programme at Cardiff to achieve the funds I require to support this expedition. However, extra support would be very much appreciated to help this process along, particularly as any extra funds I recieve will allow me to give further contributions to the local orphanages and the staff hard pressed to keep things running.
