This sweet family is falling through the cracks!  The Mannion Family is currently in a financial crisis.  They lost their only income source about 3 weeks ago.  Derek (dad) is from Ireland and here on a non-working Visa so he does not yet have a social security number.  He is in the process of getting a working Visa so he can get his SS# but it is slow.  Therefore he can not work.  Maryann was a caregiver to a 45 year old gentleman for about 3 years.  She was fired about 3 weeks ago with the reason of "excessive absences".  She does have a chronic disease and had missed some days but she had Drs. notes for every abscence.  What I think happened was about a week before she was terminated, she witnessed her client trying to perfom acts of pedophilia, by law (and morals) caregivers must report this to the appropriate agency.  She did report it and the very next week was fired because her agency lost the client because the family was upset that she followed the law.  Unfortunately, she is not approved for unemployment and is currently searching for a job.The problem is, they will be homeless within 10 days if they are not able to pay the rent at their extended stay hotel.  What I mean about falling through the cracks is because they live at a "hotel" the normal resources that would help for rent at an apartment, will not write checks to a "hotel" even though they have been there like 3 years and it is basically a stuido apt. including utilities, etc.  They would love to get an apartment but it is so costly to rent, set up utilities, etc. that is beyond their reach even when she had the caregiver position.Another reason they are falling through the cracks is when she checked out homeless shelters, etc. they do not help people without a SS#.  So she essentialy would need to break up her family and leave her husband homeless.  This family should not be split up, or denied help because of some (to me) silly rules.  Please help them get some money so they can pay their rent and continue to have a home while she looks for work.  It is very hard to get a job when you are homeless and not accepted in homeless shelters, so virtually on the street.  Then additional support until they are up and on their feet after she obtains a job.  This is a very sweet lady who is trying everyway to support her family.  Any little bit would help.  Thank you!

  • My wife and I want to help this sweet family stay together and with shelter. Will you help us? These are deserving people who hit an unexpected bump in the road. They need our help for the next couple of months until they get on their feet. Only $75 dollars and we can keep them in a home for another week. $600 would give them a month. Maryann is looking hard for work so she just needs a break. If you are wondering Derek can't work because he is here LEGALLY on a non-working Visa while he is doing the paperwork to be able to work. Please help this family.
