Hi,

I really don't know where to start with this, I don't know if I should just give you the basic details or the whole gory story...

The short version I guess is that we're a loving, hard working family, working to clear our credit cards while in dire need of help doing something very special for our daughter.

The long version:

Back in October of last year, our daughter was abducted by a stranger on her way back to a friends house from the park. It was her friends 11th birthday and she'd stayed over for the night. The pair went with a third friend to the local park before lunch on the Saturday and as two ran one way to the exit, she ran the other way and was grabbed by a man in his early 60s, had a scarf wrapped around her face so she couldn't scream and was dragged into the woods where he tied her to a tree.

He was interupted by her friends calling for her when she didn't arrive at the exit.

She was so amazingly brave, she gave a full description to the police officers and they picked him up within 2 hours. He was known to the police for similar crimes, he was found in the area wearing exactly what she said he was wearing and looked exactly as she said he looked.

It goes without saying that her life has been turned upside down by this, as has life for the whole family. She is now having problems leaving the house, hates being away from us for even a few hours while with other family members, hates school as everyone knows what happened to her (and the twisted version shared by the friend's mother) Her brother won't leave her side which is only serving to cause more problems in school, and no one is being forthcoming with help no matter how much we ask for it.

The final court case was a few weeks ago, everything suggested it was a no brainer to the point where we found out after that the judge had already decided on how long he was getting, yet the jury came back not guilty because his previous convictions were for older children...

He is now back on the streets.

This has been her life since October, our once happy little girl is now a wreck. I never really understood the phrase "Shadow of her former self" but I can honestly say I do now.

So what are we asking for?

We have been working for months to clear our credit cards so we can go all out in helping her move on. I'm working part time so I can still be there for her and her brother, my husband is working full time as well as as much overtime as he can lay his hands on, but it isn't getting us any where. Interest rates, and doing everything we can to get through all of this just take it all again.

In a perfect, ideal world what we'd do:

A whole new bedroom - Decorated, furnished with new bedding, so that it isn't the room she had all those nightmares in for months after it happened.

A new wardrobe - Get rid of everything she wore to the police stations, during the interviews, to court. She used to love pink, girly clothes, ones with animals on with cute sayings about being adorable, now she just wants baggy trousers and jumpers.

An amazing holiday - So for a week or better yet more, she doesn't have to live where it happened, doesn't have to study the faces of every man she passes, doesn't have to worry everytime someone knocks the door and doesn't have to face people who know. She can just be our daughter, our sister, a child again.

I know on a financial front, we're asking for a lot, but every penny of it will go to making this little girl's life a happier one, one she deserves. I would love to be in a position to offer rewards, but the only reward I have is the knowledge that you really will be making a huge difference to our daughter when she needs it most.

Thank you x

(This has been edited to give a better view of the situation as things have progressed)
