Campaign Story
Hi, I'm Alice and I'm a student Learning Disability Nurse at Hull University! Me and three other nursing students are going to Uganda in January 2015 to experience working in Mbarara Hospital and at an orphangage for children with learning disabilities.
The inequalities in healthcare between Mbarara and England will be huge and quite shocking and hard to witness but we are all really eager to go and help wherever we can and I'm sure it will be a life-changing experience. We have been warned that we can't go there and "expect to change the world" but even just making one child smile for a day would make everything worth it!
To help fund this project I am going to do a sponsored 5 mile swim on the 12th of December at Beverly Road Baths in Hull. I am also giving up chocolate for a month. Everyone that knows me knows that I am a massive chocoholic so while it might not sound like much, for me its huge!
Donations will go towards every aspect of the trip including getting to Africa, vaccinations and taking over toys/clothes for the children in the orphanage. I know everybody is struggling for money at the moment but any donations will be very much appreciated, no matter how small!
Thanks for reading my page and many thanks for any donations given!
