MEET IZZY :   Izzy was born on April 21, 2008. For an unknown reason, she was born with a Brain Malformation. All her diagnoses are: Infantile Cerebral Palsy, Congenital Diplegia & Quadriplegia, Seizure Disorder, Blepharospasm (eye fluttering), GERD –Reflux, Severe Developmental Delay, Microcephaly (small head), Microcytic Anemia, Sleep Apnea, Renal Tubular Acidosis, Osteomalacia and Rickets. At this point in her life, she doesn’t say words, sit independently, crawl, walk, and grab for things. She doesn’t have control of her muscles. She eats by g-tube.  When she wants something or when something hurts her, she needs to figure out a way to tell us.  It could be a little thing like an itch. Since she doesn’t have control of her movements, she can’t scratch herself.

What Izzy’s DOCTORS told us: Izzy will NEVER sit, crawl, walk, or talk.

The last doctor visit in February 2015, the doctor told Izzy, “I didn’t think you’d still be with us.”

WE HAVE A PLAN: In 2013 Zef and I attended a 3-day conference at The Family Hope Center (FHC) in PA - How to Help Your Child With Disabilities. We cried the entire 3 days because for the first time we felt like we were in the driver's seat of Izzy's life. All her life we have always did what the doctors told us to do.... medicate her to help her feel comfortable. Izzy was on more than 10 medications and was miserable. FHC made us realized that medicating her wasn't making her better, it was making her worse. The medicines were damaging her kidneys and that was damaging her bones. She had already broken 3 bones. FHC educated us on "the brain." FHC gave us hope that Izzy's brain CAN make new connections, but it will take a lot of work by stimulating her senses.   With the help of family and friends, we raised more money and went back to The FHC  in June 2014, but this time we took Izzy. The team at FHC evaluatedIzzy and helped us come up with a comprehensive plan to help Izzy get better. See below. They said Izzy's neurological age is like a 4 month old with a 6.1% degree of function.     With the help of FHC, Izzy is now off almost ALL her medications including her seizure medication!!!! She is happier, stronger, has more energy, less confused, and is wanting to do more. She is trying to sit, roll over, talk, eat orally, and potty in the toilet!! It is amazing! She even gained 10 pounds!! For the FIRST time ever, we see the little girl she is meant to be.

Our daily plan to heal Izzy: -Breathing exercise = 40x a day                                             Coordination (physical reflex movements) = 6 - 8x a day    -Olfactory (smells) - 9x a day                  -Oral stimulation - 9x a day                                           -Vision stimulation - 6 - 9 x a day            -Sensations - 9x a day                                                  -Auditory stimulation - 9x a day               -Hydrotherapy (swimming) - 5 times a week (don't do yet)

  • I applaud you for listening to your heart and gut about your baby girl and are trying to heal her with organic food to help from the inside-out. My older brother growing up had a similar handicap and please know that I know how hard it is, yet fulfilling seeing her baby steps. Hope this helps a little ;)
