About This Campaign

It's time to move on.

My name is John, and I am a 49 year old person with disabilities. My only income is SSI, and I have a problem. My five year relationship with my domestic partner has ended, and I need to move on. The relationship ended because she and I grew apart. There are no villains in this story, it's just something that happens. We loved each other then, and now we don't. Unfortunately, I have no resources to draw upon to make this move happen. I have no savings, and none of my family can help. I am currently still living with her and her family. It is a tense situation and cannot continue indefinitely. Eventually I will have to leave, and with my fragile health I would not survive being homeless.

My current residence is in Florida, but my heart is in Illinois, and I want to go back. I will be starting over with very little. A few personal belongings, clothes and my collection of books. There are a lot of expenses in moving. Then there is the damage deposit on a new apartment and getting utilities started. Since I have no furniture, I will also have to get everything needed to furnish an apartment. From a bed to dishes to a television set, I need it all. Even shopping at thrift stores, that's a lot of money. I have friends who have offered to help, but the amount of help I need is beyond them. I'm praying for a miracle here, please help it to happen.

Any donation is welcome, nothing is too small or too large. If the goal is achieved, I have enabled overfunding. Every dollar counts. Please help me to start my new life. Thank you so much for your generosity.

    THANK YOU!

To everyone who pledged, I thank you very much! I've made the move, and I'm getting started on my new life. This would not have been possible without your generosity. I can't put my gratitude into words, it's just amazing to me.

    John over and out!

    110% Funded! Holy Cow!

When I started this, I had my doubts I'd reach the goal. But here it is, the goal has not only been reached, it has been surpassed! I'm amazed and humbled by the response. My deepest, most sincere thanks to everyone who contributed. You've made it possible for me to move forward. That means more than I can say.

I'm leaving the project open so people who wish to do more can, but I'm thrilled beyond belief with what I've gotten. If I don't get anymore, I surely won't complain! :)

Life happens and brings the unexpected.

I've run into some big unexpected expenses. The truck needed more repairs, and they weren't cheap. Between buying packing supplies and having repairs to the truck, most of the money has been consumed. I still have some, it's not all gone, but at this point there is enough left to get me to Illinois and that's about it. Nothing will be left over to actually pay the deposit on an apartment.

You've all been so incredibly generous to me, and this pains me so badly to ask for more, but I don't have any real alternative. Please do not stop giving once the goal is reached. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
