As many of you may know already, my husband, Rob, has been struggling to heal an ulcer on his left great toe. On our most recent trip to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, we heard that the circulation in his leg is not good and may not support healing of the wound, which would result in amputation. we do have the option to try an experimental injection of Rob's own stem cells which, in some patients, has resulted in improved circulation and saved patients from amputation. Unfortunately, this procedure is very costly, not covered by insurance, and we need to come up with payment prior to having the treatment. Time is of the essence, as the longer the toe goes with decreased blood flow, the greater the chance amputation will be a reality. Rob lives an active life; working as a pedorthist, ski boot fitter, diabetic shoe specialist  and seasonal museum worker. He loves his family and friends and is not one to ask for help lightly. This treatment is important for his continued vitality. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your love and support. We will keep you posted on his progress through this journey.

It's been an interesting ride

Well, it's been some time since we started this fundraiser, and some changes have occurred. It turns out that my toe infection was progressing way too fast to wait for the Stem Cell injection to help. There was only one artery below the knee that was functional and it had. . . . .

Surgery is complete!

Rob is out of surgery and comfortable. I haven't seen the surgeon, but he told Rob he could still ski! Still guessing here, but from the shape of the dressing, it looks like the metatarsal head is INTACT! Alleluia, thanks to the universe/whatever God you believe in! Now we need. . . . .
