David had to have a toe removed in December 2014. He has not been able to work since. Although we hope he can return to full work duty in a few weeks; since he had very little vacation time available he is currently getting temporary disability. It is simply not enough to pay everything needed as in mortgage, utilities and medical bills. His health insurance will end on March 22, 2015 when his FMLA reaches the end. Then he will have to pay for COBRA interim insurance until he is back to work. The mortgage company just contacted me (his wife, Kay), and let us know that since we had to postpone our last house payment which was part of a payment plan we are now too far behind to make only one payment. We have until April 4th, 2015 to pay $4000.00 to keep our home. Dave is really hard working. His home is the only real investment he has. He is employed with Utah Transit Authority as a mechanic for the TRAX commuter trains. Since this toe removal was from an Infection due to his diabetes and neuropathy, he cannot qualify for light duty. He also had a mild stroke in September of 2014 which used up his vacation time and set us back to begin with. It seems like bad luck, but honestly we have hope that we can keep it together. Dave will go back to work. He had a recent surgery to close the slow healing wound and hope when his stitches come out the surgeon will clear him for work. He has to be able to stand for 8 hr. days and wear his heavy duty boots. We have had dear friends and family who have pitched in but it simply hasn't been enough. Dave and I live in Highland, Utah on a little tiny farm. We have chickens, 2 horses , 3 old dogs and some feral cats. We have planned to stay here until Dave retires in 3 years and use this land as part of our retirement. Please help us keep our home. I am an artist and I will send a beautiful handmade large postcard to any donation over $30.00.
