Following a long and serious spell of illness, Christmas Eve 2013 brought news that my father had an aggressive form of prostate cancer. He is very very ill and my family is finding it hard to cope. I work away as a soldier and simply cannot commit time to helping out, although my family are doing a fantastic job. My father always told me to make a bad situation positive and so instead of sitting around hoping for the best... i am doing the only thing i know how to do.
Towards the end of the year i will be climbing the highest free-standing mountain in the world 'Kilimanjaro' i am doing this to raise funds for Cancer Research and raise awareness. This project has given my family something positive to focus on as they are all pitching in with the huge amount of fund raising required. My dad is so proud of me and i feel that if the worst did happen in the coming months he will see a family who is fighting for a solution to something that has torn us apart.
The climb itself is 6000m over 10 days. Upon my return i will be walking 100 miles from my home town to Cancer Research HQ in order to hand deliver all donations.
If there is anyone that could help me get the word out there of my adventure or help with the sponsorship, no matter how small a contribution i will be forever grateful.
