What is Barn Hunt?

Barn Hunt is a fun and exciting new dog sport. In Barn Hunt, dogs hunt for rats hidden in a straw bale maze. It's a timed event, with levels of difficulty from Novice to Master. There will be ribbons, placements, and titles. Fun tests are already being held across the country and there is tremendous interest. You can find out much more about the sport by going to the Barn Hunt Web Page.

What (or who) is the Barn Hunt Association, LLC

Barn Hunt is the brain child of Robin Nuttall. Robin has been training and showing dogs since 1984, competing in obedience, agility, rally, conformation, nosework, dock diving, lure coursing, tracking and more, in a number of different organizations. Barn Hunt Association, LLC (BHA LLC) is the independent organization founded and owned by Robin

What will the money be used for?

The monies raised through GoGetFunding will be used to help get Barn Hunt off the ground. Once launched, Barn Hunt will be self-sufficient financially, but there are some start up costs right now. Your donations will be used to:

  • Subsidize the cost of back end programming to assist with registering dogs, keeping records, show applications and results submissions, etc.
  • Subsidize the cost of advertising materials including banners, and brochures
  • Help Robin finance one or more trips to major shows and/or to help offset club costs for judge workshops she holds around the country
  • Help with time and costs associated with developing judge materials, a judging test, course layouts and tests, etc. This will include subsidizing Robin's work hours during that development. Since she is self-employed, having support for the major hours she will be spending developing these materials in the next one to two months is critical.

What can I get for donating?

Well of course, the primary benefit is the smooth launch of the sport. But you can get goodies too!

  • Donations of $1 to $49 get listed on the website with my thanks.
  • Donations of $50 to $99 get the choice of a Barn Hunt magnet, bumper sticker, or keychain (basic keychain)
  • Donations of $100 to $149 get the choice of a Barn Hunt ceramic mug, cap, or mouse pad
  • Donations of $150 to $249 get a Barn Hunt t-shirt in choice of color and style

  • This is actually $20 from Jo Ann Wolf (a fun match exhibitor who had to withdraw due to family obligations and asked that her entry fee be donated), $25 from Traci Murdock (who raised the money by putting on a rat-familiarization session), and the balance from me.

  • Come on folk's. Let's donate. In comparison to what you get in return, this is cheap entertainment for you and your dog(s).
