Background

I am a 24 year old guy, who has been working in the Information Technology (IT) field for the past 4-5 years of my life. During that time, I have been attending a university to pursue a Bachelor's degree in IT for the past 2-3 years, aside from changing my major multiple times. I have been enrolled in college since 2007. Five years of school, and I am just now coming to realize the truth: the field of IT is not where I belong, it isn't what I'm interested in or have any desire to pursue further. Five years in school is a huge investment, and what makes it worse is, I am only 3 or 4 semesters away from finishing my Bachelor's in IT... yet I am willing to drop everything to pursue a dream.

Reasons

Why? Why would I give up almost everything I have completed to switch careers now? The short answer: money. I have learned, that once in possession of a Bachelor's degree, I would no longer qualify for financial aid or grants for additional schooling. Essentially, if I want to turn my life around, I need to act now.

The Details

I plan on attending the Art Institute this October, which is a very expensive school, but offers excellent training. My dream program is a full Bachelor's degree in Video Game Art & Design, and would cost roughly $86,000. Luckily, a large chunk of my credits from previous schooling would transfer, and knock off an esimated $15,000. In addition, Federal Pell Grants will cover another $21,000 of the tuition cost.

This leaves me with amount of money I hope to raise in order to fulfill a life-long dream: $50,000 to cover my education.

With my new education, I will finally be able to enjoy my life in a career of my dreams. Letting my imagination go wild as a concept artist, providing ideas and fantastic images for video games, movies, and all forms of digital entertainment for the world to view. I hope that my creative mind will bring joy to many individuals to come over the years.

I have been sketching as a hobby for years, and am just now getting into digital painting on a personal level. I do not have amazing skills yet, and thus, might not have much to give back to those who donate to my cause; but I have recently revived an old Deviant Art account which I will be uploading my work to.
