3D Printers for the local Art Museum and Arts Magnet High School!

I am an Architect and Artist in Savannah, Georgia. I wish to purchase 3D Printers for the education of high school students and the production of Computer generated 3D art.

One will be donated to the Jepson Center for the Arts/Telfair Museum's Art Education Program. Another will be donated to the Art Department of the Savannah Arts Academy High School. The printers will be used for experimenting with and developing the students' understanding of the printer's capabilities. I will volunteer and share my knowledge of this technology with  the students at the Savannah Arts Academy and also with the kids enrolled in the Art Eduction programs at the Jepson Center for the Arts.

In my professional career, I work with Computer Aided Design Software on a daily basis. I'm familiar with the 3D modeling aspencts of quite a few different software packages and have used them both, in my job and my private artwork. I've been following the 3D printing concept for about 10 years now and have always thought that this could be the next paradigm shift in both Art and Industry! Its' amazing what someone can print with the newer desktop units that are out there.

My daughter is a Sophmore at the local public Arts Magnet high school, Savannah Arts Academy.  This public school was ranked #1 in the entire state of Georgia for the school year od 2011/2012 and #86 in the Nation. In 2012/2013, the school came in 4th in Georgia.  It is an incredible school that offers so much to the talented young hopefuls that attend. I've met some incredible teachers, faculty, and students there; all incredible artists in their own right. By the way, the movie that is part of this project was written and produced completely by Savannah Arts Academy Students! These kids are incredible and I want to help them along with all local high school students through classes at the Jepson Art Center for the Arts.

This museum is a leading organization in the Southeast for Art and Community Outreach to all areas of Savannah and the surrounding towns. Through their Art Education program and community center outreach, they are bringing art to kids that otherwise would not have the opportunity to benefit from having art in their lives and their community.

I've always enjoyed collaborating with others. There's just something so rewarding (and fun!)  about working on a project together and being part of something that is larger and better than you could have done on your own.  Deciding on a goal, figuring out how to get there, producing the final product, and then enjoying the fruits of your labor. I've also found, as of late, that I am actually a good teacher of upper middle school to high school students and that I have a lot to offer them.

I would love to work with these young and talented artists to produce, one of a kind art pieces for the sponsors of this page. We have many different levels to choose from, and of course, any contribution will be graciously appreciated.

Please won't you help me bring the opportunity of 3D Printing to local Savannah area students. It is the wave of the future and I want to help this generation prepare themselves for all the wonderous advantages it has to offer.
