I am setting up this campaign to fund a second hand powered wheelchair and ramps for my dear friend Wayne Blackburn.

Wayne is a committed and dedicated Labour activist, local councillor, and a case worker, working part time for Kate Green MP.

Wayne was born with spastic diplegia which is a form of cerebral palsy, and he also suffers from complex regional pain syndrome. I have seen Wayne go about his work, dedicated to improving other people's lives and doing everything he can for the Labour movement. As a local councillor in Pendle, Lancashire he is an absolute role model for us all as he tackles local issues and improves the lives of people in his community.

But now its time to help Wayne. Lately he has been unable to push through the pain barrier at work, and has been advised by doctors a powered wheelchair is what he needs now. Wayne's wife Laura is his carer and they get by on his part time wages and are unable to afford a second hand powered wheelchair and ramps. The cost for both is around £1400.

Can I ask comrades from the Labour and trade union movement to spare a few pounds to help Wayne out please? He dedicates his life to helping others and as his friend I am hopeful we can raise enough for Wayne to carry on the good work he does. We need more disabled activists, and more disabled representatives in our Labour movement..so lets help Wayne out!

Thank you.

  • Solidarity to you and Wayne. I am assuming there is no local wheelchair service provider in your area via your GP.
