Joe’s World Challenge expedition to Costa Rica & Nicaragua

My son Joe is particpating in a month long expedition to Central America, Costa Rica and Nicaragua via his school in August 2017 the young people (he will be 17) take a very proactive part in the trip including living and working with local communities with ongoing projects. He is keen to get out there and do something useful in the world in a real and practical way, he has been a scout for many years and wants to take the next step in getting involved with the developing world. Children are living in a cotton wool world and they need to escape its grip and get out into the real world. The cost of the trip is £4000 plus extra expenses such as equipment/kit for the expedition and vaccinations these alone cost well over £1000 in total extra, this is not within my financial means as a single parent therefore the only way to fund it is through various fund raising events including hopefully an abseil down the Avon gorge next year, he has been doing some childminding and odd jobs, and he has started to make things to sell next year at craft events, thank you for taking the time to read this and if you can help we are very grateful
