Earl’s left eye surgery (Help me raise funds to preserve the only vision I have)

I am Earl Cezanne Benitez, a 26 year-old unemployed with visual disability. I am currently residing at Iloilo City Philippines. Fifteen Years ago, during around this same period, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. During those years, I was able to finish University and eventually became a part of the human working force. I was living a perfectly normal life until a few months ago. “The silent killer” as most of us know it, took its toll on my body. The complications of my diabetes started to set in.

Around March this year I was diagnosed with advance Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy which is affecting both my eyes. It is a complication that targets the retina and, if not treated, can lead to blindness. It is unfortunate that the condition of my right eye is far off advanced that it has to undergo surgery without any guarantee of having my vision back. The left eye, on one hand, was treated with laser surgery to prevent the progression of the disease.

I underwent Pars-Plana Vitrectomy surgery on my right eye last 15 June 2015. The surgery went well, at the same time we were in close monitoring of my left eye, as I am completely dependent on it in terms of my vison. We were also hoping that the laser surgery, which was performed on my left eye earlier, will be able to prevent the progression of the retinopathy. A month after the surgery, I received a much unexpected news from my doctor. After some tests and a second opinion from another retina specialist, it was confirmed that the retinopathy on my left eye has already progressed and an immediate pre-emptive surgery is needed in order to preserve the vision I currently only hav

I wanted to help myself . If I could work, I would, but I can’t momentarily. I would like to ask you to help me raise funds for my eye surgery. The total cost of my surgery is around Php. 100,000 ( Approx. USD 2,300) this includes the Hospital Bills and the professional fees of the doctors.

This is not only about the surgery. It is about my future. What I am asking you all is to be part of rebuilding my future. My vision, I believe, is an essential part of that future. All I ask is another chance to be able to see the world with my own eyes and share to others the beauty I see.
