Embrace the Future of Personal Fundraising: Introducing Bitcoin on...
Read moreNow, we’re guessing that with all the preparation you have put into maximising the appearance of your personal fundraiser page, plus all the networking you did to create the hype needed to get those all important first donations rolling in, you feel you can finally relax and let your fundraiser do the rest of the work for you, right?
Unfortunately, fundraising isn’t something that will just look after itself – it’s like anything you want to grow – it needs nurturing, constant attention and a little encouragement along the way.
Check out the efforts some fundraisers are putting in to keeping their fundraiser fresh and appealing to donors. There are rewards on offer, regular updates and news, plus freshly updated pictures.
Most fundraisers are concerned that they only have a small circle of friends, or that they do not have a large presence on any of the social media platforms. For this reason, there needs to be an adjustment to the online strategy that most fundraisers use.
So, whether you need to look at an alternative way to stimulate interest in your fundraiser, or simply want to
boost your current online efforts, here are a few suggestions:
- Contact a local printing firm and ask them to donate to your fundraiser. If they can’t, they may be very willing to print some flyers free of charge or at a reduced rate (this will act as great publicity for their company if there is an acknowledgement for them on the flyer too).
- Consider QR codes. These can be purchased on line for a few months (perfect for short campaigns) or longer if needed. In this era of smart phones, a flyer in a shop window or cafe with a QR code on it will take the viewer straight to your fundraiser page, and allow them to donate immediately!
- Ask your local newsagent if they can insert a flyer into any weekend papers that are being delivered in an area that may be sympathetic to your cause.
- Visit local sports teams and emergency service personnel – they love to hear of fundraising campaigns, and will often run an event to help raise money for your cause. They may do anything from a fundraising car wash (popular with the local fire service), sponsored match (popular with local football teams) or a challenge event (popular with police or local businesses).
- Don’t forget traditional media either. As we’ve mentioned before, your local newspaper and radio station love to get involved and are not as scary as you may think.
The most important thing to remember is that you need to keep your fundraiser accessible and fresh in everyone’s mind. There are plenty of other fundraisers out there hoping for donations too. Those who go the extra mile are undoubtedly rewarded for their efforts.
Fundraising is immensely rewarding, if a little exhausting at times. But if you work at it you have the potential to keep those donations coming in.
Next time we talk about the importance of sharing your fundraiser link and how planning the way you do this will boost your donations.
